Wesly “Michael Rakim” Edwards

About Me

Michael Rakim is a soulful visual storyteller based in Jacksonville, Florida. With a camera in hand and jazz in his ear, he captures photographs that feel like memories—full of gravity, intimacy, and presence. His work has been exhibited at institutions like MOCA Jacksonville’s Triennial, where his portraits speak to heritage, quiet strength, and the moments that shape us. Whether on location or in his Riverside studio at the Cork Arts District, his sessions blend art direction, emotional clarity, and a lived-in sense of humanity.

More than just a photographer, Michael is in a season of becoming—both in life and in art. Lately, that means leaning into stillness, choosing honesty, and letting light reach into the corners. He’s learning to notice more: the rhythm of a jazz playlist, the breath of a cat curled beside him, the grace of an unspoken glance. These small rituals shape his work, reminding him—and by extension, his clients—that the most powerful stories don’t have to shout.

Through his studio, Rakimism, Michael offers more than imagery. He crafts visual narratives for weddings, elopements, and personal portraits that reflect what truly matters. Each photo is a quiet ode to connection and gratitude, a reminder that your story deserves to be more than seen—it deserves to be felt.
